ShipMeter Help
A free-shipping progress bar for Shopify. Questions not answered here? questions.squaredaway@gmail.com
Getting started
- Install ShipMeter from the Shopify App Store. The settings page opens in your Shopify admin.
- Turn the bar on. Click Open theme editor. It opens App embeds with Free shipping bar switched on. Click Save.
- Set your goal. Enter your free-shipping minimum (match the free rate in Settings → Shipping and delivery), adjust the messages if you like, and click Save.
- Check your store. Add something to the cart. The bar shows how much more is needed and updates instantly.
Settings
In the ShipMeter app
- Free shipping minimum: in your store’s currency.
- Messages: for an empty cart, while shopping, and when the goal is reached. Put
{amount}where the number should appear.
In the theme editor (App embeds → Free shipping bar)
- Position: top of page, or bottom of the screen (always visible).
- Colors and text size, show/hide the progress line, and hide when the cart is empty.
Bar on product or cart pages
In the theme editor, open the product or cart template, click Add block → Apps → Free shipping progress, and Save. It uses the same goal and messages as the top bar.
Pro features
- Second goal: after free shipping is reached, the bar moves on to a second amount, for example “You’re $20 away from a free gift!”. ShipMeter shows the message; set up the gift itself with a Shopify discount or automatic gift app.
- Exact amounts per currency: one per line, like
EUR=45. Other currencies are converted automatically. - Custom CSS: style the bar with the
.shipmeterclass.
Start or cancel Pro anytime from the Plan page in the app. Charges appear on your Shopify bill.
Troubleshooting
The bar doesn’t appear
- Check that Free shipping bar is switched on under App embeds in your live theme, and that you clicked Save.
- Make sure you’ve saved a free-shipping minimum in the app.
- If Hide when cart is empty is on, add an item to see it.
The bar doesn’t update when the cart changes
ShipMeter updates whenever your theme changes the cart through Shopify’s standard cart requests, which covers most themes. If a custom theme or cart app updates the cart another way, have it dispatch document.dispatchEvent(new Event("shipgoal:refresh")) after the change, or contact us and we’ll help.
The amount looks different in another currency
Amounts are converted with your store’s exchange rate. If your shipping rate uses a round number in a market (for example €45), set it under Exact amounts per currency (Pro).
Uninstalling
Uninstall from Settings → Apps. The bar is removed automatically and no code is left in your theme.
